Wireless Telecommunications

CHALLENGE

Manage a large, complex project under the auspices of three powerful owners who normally meet as competitors in a robust market.

ROLE

Actium had an MSA with a joint venture entity, with the responsibility to “stand up” an organization quickly with top talent while moving the project forward on an aggressive timeline. Requirements, processes and time frames were complex. Actium performed well despite the inherent challenges. Other than some resources who were provided to the team by their parent companies, the first 25 people assigned to this project were from Actium Advisors. We became the “first source” for expert resources for this project, including senior positions in finance, product development and program management. Actium and clients had a streamlined, pre-negotiated and transparent process to rapidly on-board the resources needed to work with design teams, technology vendors and suppliers in the financial services industry.

RESULT

The result was an innovative platform for mobile payments, with proprietary intellectual property and patented technology, that was later sold to the world’s largest multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products.

CHALLENGE

Benchmarking showed that a client needed to significantly improve their online sales and customer service. Client realized they needed to move from simple website administration with a small team to understanding all metrics related to site visitors and user behavior, and doing a better job of proactively meeting their needs.

ROLE

Client approached Actium and explained that while they knew the kind of resources they needed, it would be difficult to staff using their normal hiring and recruiting processes. The client described their pain this way: “There are only a few thousand people in the world with some of the skills I need and I can’t find and hire them fast enough under our standard processes.” Working with the client, we identified and supported the need for data scientists and analysts with PhDs and other advanced degrees, program managers, forecasters, modelers and people with up to date skills in digital marketing. We were charged with building the beginnings of that team.

RESULT

From an initial client team of about 6 people to a team that would grow to several hundred, the core of that new team was built around consultants and resources from Actium Advisors. We provided over 30 people with specific expertise who would become the “go-to” resources for getting things done. Once a forgotten backwater for the firm, the online channel became the most productive and lowest cost sales channel for the entire business, while providing a wealth of insight about customer behaviors and needs, which were used to further enhance the customer experience. Actium continues to support this project today and many of the original resources provided by Actium were eventually hired as full-time employees by the client.

Global Wireless Telecommunications

CHALLENGE

As connected devices emerged to fix real-world problems with cost-effective solutions, multinational enterprises were looking to extend those solutions, seamlessly and effortlessly, to any place in the world.

ROLE

Managed the complexities of a large technical program that involved 10 different global telecom carriers, with all that is expected in language, cultural, and project complexities. Under the program management direction of a levelheaded and disciplined program manager from Actium, who was the essential element in keeping the project moving, the global partnership of international telecommunications providers built the world’s largest M2M partnership, managing huge numbers of devices worldwide using a unified platform of controls.

RESULT

Successful launch of an extremely complex system, supporting globally recognized enterprise clients with a seamless integrated solution and a welcome single point of contact, while remaining compliant with the complex regulations of a myriad of far-flung jurisdictions.
